Marina Abramovic’s ‘The Artist is Present’ Gets Print Run
By Photography / IO, 04 Jan 2011
Marina Abramovic’s prolific The Artist is Present performance piece at the Museum of Modern Art, in which the artist sat and stared back at viewers, is being made into a photographic book titled Portraits in the Presence of Marina Abramovic, reports Art Daily.
During the course of Abramovic’s 716-hour long performance, photographer Marco Anelli took portraits of those sitting opposite the artist, 1,500 in total.
According to Art Daily, the Rome-based Anelli “documented every interaction, taking a portrait of each participant and noting the time they spent in the chair.”
The book will be published by Aperture.
