Photographer Reveals the Other Side of Blogs
By Photography / IO, 14 Jan 2011
Photographer Gabriela Herman’s project takes a look at the other side of the computer screen, featuring portraits of bloggers as they work on their computers.
Wired.com ran an interview with Herman on the project, aptly titled ‘Bloggers’. She told the tech magazine: “I wanted to bring their intimate worlds to the outside public.”
The portraits are starkly shot, the faces of the bloggers lit up only by the glare of their computer screens. Blogging, in Herman’s project, is presented as lonely, isolating even.
Yet the photographer said she believes “bloggers are connecting us, bringing us together”, she tells Wired.com. It allows for “an interactive platform, a two-way dialogue that allows for both online and offline relationships to form”, she was quoted as saying.
