Apple Doesn’t Want to Be ‘Just for the Rich’: COO Tim Cook
By Apple / IO, 01 Mar 2011
Apple COO Tim Cook, who is currently filling in for Steve Jobs, told an analyst his company doesn’t want to be “just for the rich”, reports Business Insider.
He was quoted as saying Apple is doing “clever things” to enter the prepaid market because Apple wants to be “for everyone” and not “just for the rich”, reports Business Insider.
Cook’s statement is read as a hint that the world’s most valuable technology company will be releasing a cheaper iPhone to address those prepaid markets, of which price is a “big factor”, according to Business Insider.
He told the analyst Apple has been exploring in particular the China market, which is heavily reliant on prepaid.
