A Brick-and-Mortar Store for Typophiles, by Typophiles
By Typefaces / IO, 23 Mar 2011
The PlayType store is a curious project by design studio e-Types that sells digital fonts—served in credit card-sized USB drives—in a brick-and-mortar store in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The store, which is in some ways an extension of e-Types' online one, is billed as the first of its kind; apart from typefaces, customers can also buy all sorts of font paraphernalia from t-shirts to mugs.
“It is a place to share our passion with the general public and a place where our designers can experiment with their craft outside of the studio,” e-Type wrote on its website.
The store opened on 1 December 2010, and will close 1 December this year.
