As Epitaph, a QR Code Embedded in Tombstone
By Technology / IO, 18 Jul 2011
Instead of a poignant quote, an Israeli man opted for a QR code embedded in the tombstone for his mother’s grave in the city of Haifa (see below).
Yoav Medan installed the QR code for his late mother Judith, which links visitors to a memorial website he set up. The site contains photos and stories of Judith’s life.
“I was most concerned about 20 or 40 years from now, how will she be remembered,” Medan told Mashable. “[I wanted to put] what’s in our memory into a place that doesn’t forget.”
Medan added he thinks his idea might catch on. “People identify with this way of keeping the memory of someone and actually making it dynamic and evolving with time as you remember more,” he was quoted as saying.
