Photographer Imagines The Future Of Westerners In ‘China 2050’
By John Yong, 26 Oct 2012
China-based French photographer Benoit Cezard has started an interesting photo series—where he imagines the future of Westerners in China 40 years from now.
In the photo series called ‘China 2050’, he captures various Westerners filling the roles and positions commonly performed by poorer Chinese migrant workers—such as construction workers, tricycle riders, maids and road cleaners.
“With the decline of the US and Europe and the strong economic development of China, a big wave of new immigrants, coming from the old superpowers, arrived in the Chinese mainland,” said a statement that came with the series.
According to the Global Times, Cezard is convinced that by 2050, China will be the “premier economic superpower” and Western immigrants in China will have to take up blue-collared jobs.
What do you think? Could this be the future in China?
