Tweeting Apron Lets You Know When Lunch Is Ready
By Anthea Quay, 30 Oct 2012
As a way to make shared meal-time more interactive, New York’s Smart Design’s Interaction Lab came up with an apron that tweets the status of your lunch.
The ‘smart’ apron can sense when users put on the apron to begin cooking the meal, and when it is taken off, through its magnetic clasp at the neck.
The apron would send automatic tweets or text messages to let people know when a meal is being prepared, and when it is ready for people to come to the dining table.
Wouldn't this be truly useful?
The ‘Apron Alert’ concept was an experiment on improving the communal kitchen experience, and on how products can harness the “Internet of Things” to keep people connected.
