Advice On Design & Life From Famous Graphic Designers
By Dorothy Tan, 22 Feb 2013
British publisher Laurence King has just released an insightful new book—I Used to Be a Design Student: 50 Graphic Designers Then and Now—in which famous graphic designers dish out useful advice to design students and aspiring designers.
Other than short interviews and work samples, the book also shows fascinating comparison grids that track the creative evolution of the featured designers—including changes in their preferences of food, transport and books.
The reader will be able to pick up good design and life habits from the experiences—succinctly documented in these grid charts—of these influential designers.
There is also a section where the successful graphic designers were asked to give out both a piece of advice and one warning—Stefan Sagmeister’s “Work you ass off + Don’t be an asshole” is among the best of the lot.
