Yahoo Revamps Flickr, Promises To Be ‘Spectaculr’
By Erwan Xiao, 21 May 2013
Hot on the heels of Google Plus’ photography focused redesign, Yahoo has unveiled a revamp to its photo sharing website, Flickr, in a bid to make it “awesome” again.
The new Flickr gives you 1TB of storage space free, so that you’ll be able to share all your images in full resolution. That’s more than 500,000 photos, assuming a 6.5-megapixel camera.
Flickr has also redesigned its ‘Activity Feed’, placing an emphasis on large, high-resolution images.
The ‘photostream’ also got a new coat of paint, now looking like a mix between 500px and Facebook, with the ability to insert a cover photo.
The new design also focuses on the mobile experience, with Flickr releasing an ‘Android’ app to join the iPhone app released last December.
Will this impressive new redesign, together with Yahoo’s recent acquisition of Tumblr be enough to earn Yahoo a younger demographic and keep it relevant?
