Photographer Takes Pictures Of Ernest Hemingway Impersonators
By Thia Shi Min, 02 Aug 2013
Photographer Henry Hargreaves has photographed one of the most intriguing events of the year—a contest in which at least 100 men try their luck at impersonating the writer, Ernest Hemingway.
Commencing on Hemingway’s birthday, on the 21st of July, the contest consists of drinking, fishing, wrestling, bull running, and a reading of Hemingway’s writings.
Intrigued by this competition, the photographer set to recreate the iconic shot of Hemingway, taken by Yousef Karsh in 1957.
By asking each sitter to imagine that they were Hemingway, coming back from a plane crash in Africa, he has re-created several uncanny portraits which resemble the famous writer.
