Cousin Of The Cronut: The ‘Cragel’, A Croissant-Bagel Hybrid Pastry
By John Yong, 16 Jan 2014
It seems like the Cronut was so last year, because there’s a new pastry in town called the ‘Cragel’—a half croissant, half bagel hybrid.
Produced by the “world’s premier bagel artist” Scot Rossillo of The Bagel Shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the Cragel has been described as “a delicate, flaky, buttery croissant baked into a flavorful tasty bagel”.
“It is 50% croissant, 50% bagel and 100% delicious—all of the characteristics of a bagel with the delicate flaky taste and texture of a croissant. The best of both worlds,” wrote The Bagel Shop on its website.
Priced at US$2.95 each, the Cragel only comes in one flavor and customers are limited to 6 Cragels per order.
