Photographer Uses UV-Light To Reveal Subject's Natural Facial Imperfections
By Amanda Mok, 11 Feb 2014
Counter-culture to heavy airbrushing, Brooklyn-based photographer Cara Philips’ series of portraits entitled ‘Ultraviolet Beauties’ is a celebration of natural facial imperfections.
She set up a booth on the streets of New York with a sign offering “Free Portraits” for people willing to be photographed under a UV-light, revealing every freckle and spot.
Each of the subjects have their eyes closed to signify vulnerability, inviting viewers to study their faces in full detail.
