Nendo Unveils Glasses With Detachable Hinges That Let You Mix & Match Arms
By Jillian Wong, 30 Apr 2014
Japanese studio Nendo has unveiled glasses with detachable hinges that use magnets instead of screws.
The arms are held in place by disk-shaped magnets on either side of the lens frame.
According to Nendo, “the temples release smoothly when pulled from the side”, allowing users to mix and match different arms in a variety of colors and patterns like black, blue, metallic and tortoiseshell.
Aside from being stylish, the ‘Magne-hinge’ glasses mean the frames are more flexible and durable.
They were on display at Nendo’s solo exhibition in Milan’s Brea district earlier this month.
