Stake Money On This Website To Stop Procrastinating & ‘Go F*cking Do It’
By Dorothy Tan, 05 May 2014
If you are someone who needs some external motivation or pressure to help you stop procrastinating and go do whatever you want to do, this new website by world-traveling web creative @levelsio may be useful for you.
The founder of projects like YouTube channel “Panda Mix Show”, @levelsio has embarked on a challenge to build 12 startups in 12 months, and “Go F*cking Do It” is one of them. The concept is a simple one: the website gets users to set a deadline for achieving a goal and stake some money on completing it on time—if they fail, they would forfeit the amount they have staked.
Having launched for just slightly more than a week, the project has already attracted 154 people who have staked a total of almost US$14,000 at the time of writing—the goals stated ranged from running a marathon to surprising one’s girlfriend everyday.
The creator of the website has not yet decide on what he would do with the money collected from users who have failed to reach their goal—however, according to Coolhunting, the entrepreneur has argued that donating the money to a charity would actually reduce the effectiveness of the website, as giving money to a good cause would make the procrastinator feel less bad about losing the money.
