Collapsible, Transforming Seat Gives A Little Privacy For Napping At The Airport
By Dorothy Tan, 07 May 2014
Sleeping in public is definitely not something that most people feel comfortable doing—but weary, unfortunate travelers whose flights have been delayed or canceled often had to take a nap in public spaces at the airport for lack of better resting options.
To deal with such situations, designer Ko Chien-Hui has created RESMO, a “portable piece of folding furniture” that is made for people who are “camping involuntarily in the airport”. Folding flat when not in use, this innovative design can transform into either a comfortable seat or sleeping pad that could be set up in any available spare space.
The distinctive feature of the RESMO is its hood-like “built-in shield” that provides a little bit of privacy for users who would like to get some shut-eye. Individual RESMO units could also be placed neatly together to create a small private zone for people traveling in groups.
