A Slow-Motion Look At Some Of The Most Challenging Dance Moves In Ballet
By Dorothy Tan, 02 Jun 2014
Ballet dancers are often mesmerizing to watch—their graceful forms leap and twirl lightly through the air, projecting an ease that obscures the fact that many of the dance moves that they execute so well are actually extremely challenging to perform.
The Washington Post has recently produced a short video that shows how some of these moves are done—it features six professional ballet dancers who demonstrated the most difficult moves in their repertoire.
The video presents each of these dance moves in slow motion, allowing the viewer a fascinating glimpse of how each one is achieved—during a regular performance, they are carried out so swiftly that it is not possible for our eyes to fully grasp the details.
View the video below, where the dancers also explained why the moves they have chosen to demonstrate are so difficult to perfect.
