What Happens When A Professional Photographer Is Given A ‘Cheap Camera’
By Valerie Chang, 27 Oct 2014
Photography show DigitalRev ropes in AFP photojournalist Alex Ogle for its latest video in the series ‘Pro Photographer, Cheap Camera Challenge’.
The Hong Kong-based photojournalist, who had to capture the ongoing action of the Occupy Central protest, ditched his D810 DSLR for a “cheap camera” as he went about taking street photographs for the challenge.
The thin camera only had a viewfinder, with a lag time of two seconds after the shutter was pressed. There was also no LCD screen for Ogle to preview images and no feedback on whether any shots were indeed captured.
However, the fun task proved no challenge for Ogle.
“Alex’s photos have shown that finding something interesting to photograph is more important than the features of the camera.”
