PANTONE Unveils 2015 Color Of The Year: Marsala
By Jillian Wong, 05 Dec 2014
PANTONE has unveiled its 2015 Color of the Year: PANTONE 18-1438 Marsala.
Described as a “naturally robust and earthy red”, the rich wine hue is meant to embody “the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal” and emanates “a sophisticated, natural earthiness”.
“This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of PANTONE Color Institute.
Marsala takes over from this year’s color, Radiant Orchid.
To launch Marsala, PANTONE collaborated with New York-based experience design agency Sub Rosa to create a collection of images centered around friends coming together over food and drinks. Audiences are shown how the color is tastefully and elegantly incorporated into the setting, as the party moves through the various courses from appetizers to dessert.
This is the second year the agency has helped with PANTONE’s Color of the Year launch.
