An Absurd Success On Kickstarter, Tech-Free Wristband Helps You Get Things Done
By Dorothy Tan, 20 Jan 2015
When you watch the Flip Band’s Kickstarter campaign video (below), you may feel that this is one of those prank projects, like that famous potato salad campaign—yet, in just a short while, it has already garnered more than three times its initial funding goal.
The idea for the Flip Band is absurdly simple. The completely tech-free wristband does not vibrate when you receive social media notifications nor does it have a touchscreen display—to use it, one simple complete whatever goal they want to achieve and flip the band over to reveal a green side with a tick on it, to enjoy the “feel good” experience of having done what you set out to do.
According to website Digital Trends, the project’s success may be due to its creator Victor Mathieux’s understanding of psychology—he has marketed the Flip Band as an uncomplicated “trigger” to turn goals into actions. The desire to flip over that wristband at the end of the day may very well motivate people into completing their tasks.
Pledge US$19 to get a pack of two Flip Bands and a “Goal-Setting Toolkit” PDF—would you be interested in trying out this wristband, or do you think that it is just ridiculous?
