Beautiful Stained Glass Window Harnesses Solar Power To Charge Household Devices
By Yap Yen, 07 May 2015
Dutch designer Marjan van Aubel has come up with a solar-powered stained-glass window that can also charge tech tools.
The new creation called ‘Current Window’ uses different colored glass panes that are made with dye-sensitised solar cells. Similar to photosynthesis, the glass utilises the properties of color to generate power, absorb daylight and can also harness diffused sunlight to store energy.
The window has an integrated USB on its ledge, allowing the power to be transferred to household devices. Since greater energy is harnessed when the surface area is larger, schools, hospitals and libraries can use this design to access free, sustainable power.
