Airbnb Lets You Spend The Night In A Floating House On London’s River Thames
By Jillian Wong, 19 May 2015
Not content with offering stays in filming locations, a ski jump, a Formula One race, a cable car, an airplane and an IKEA store, Airbnb has unveiled its newest unique lodging in the form of a floating house on London’s River Thames.
The stunt was created to celebrate new housing rules in the city that allow Londoners to rent their homes for up to 90 days, without being fined or requiring permission.
The charming powder blue house has two bedrooms, a bathroom and living room, and even comes with a real lawn, a doghouse and an apple tree.
Designed by architects Nick and Steve Tidball, it sailed down the Thames on Monday morning and will remain along the river until Saturday, 23 May.
If you’re hoping to stay in it, read on. Airbnb is giving one lucky winner the chance to spend the night in the floating abode once it’s docked at Putney Pier on 22 May.
The home rental platform will allow up to three friends along for the ride, and throw in a relaxing massage and a private dinner prepared by Michelin-starred chef Robert Ortiz of award-winning Peruvian restaurant Lima.
