Artist Hilariously Inserts Social Media Jargon Into 19th Century Paintings
By Yap Yen, 29 Jun 2015
We previously featured a series that imagined what the founding fathers of America would have posted on the internet.
Denver-based artist Shawn Huckins is back with another series titled ‘The American __tier’, which juxtaposes 19th century American painting and photography with 21st century popular culture, in the form of Facebook status updates, tweets and texting acronyms.
Huckins creates impressive reproductions of 19th century American paintings using acrylic paint before superimposing social media jargo in large white letters.
