Artist Installs Serene Nature-Themed Billboards Along Highways
By Winona Wee, 27 Jul 2015
Artist Brian Kane has created a set of billboards to relieve people of their stress and take away from the noise that advertisements bring.
Located along two Massachusetts highways, ‘Healing Tool’ is an installation that alternates between pictures of serene nature environments that promote tuning out from the clutter of advertisements and taking a break.
During the day, images of trees surrounding the highways are displayed and these are replaced by images of the moon and Milky way at night.
Graphic designers may find the name of this project familiar. The piece gets its name ‘Healing Tool’ from the Photoshop tool that patches up errors in images. In this sense, Kane is using his public installation to patch over the constant unwanted product placements along the highways.
