Innovative, Sleek Ear-Free Headphones Plays Music Through Your Skull
By Louise Jane Cher, 18 Sep 2015
Studio Banana Things–the creators of the Ostrich Pillow–have created a new innovative product that will change the way we hear things.
The ‘BATBAND’ is a futuristic set of headphones that does not require users to wear bulky headphones over the ears as it transmits sound waves directly to your inner ear, freeing your outer ear to stay connected with your surroundings.
The headband-like device works via bone conduction—it emits sound waves at a frequency that can be conducted through the bones of your skull, and picked up by your “private” inner ear. With your “social” outer ear free to listen to your surroundings, you will be able to “hear twice as much”.
The BATBAND also has touch sensors, enabling you to wirelessly control its features when paired to your mobile via Bluetooth. Not only can you listen to music, the in-built microphone also allows you to discreetly make and take calls.
The sleek device is worn around the back of your head, and has a comfortable spring steel grip and soft padded inner lining, making it suitable for daily and active use.
