Airbnb Lets You Spend Halloween Night In An Underground Graveyard In Paris
By Jillian Wong, 09 Oct 2015
Airbnb is no stranger to unorthodox lodgings, and its latest stunt looks set to be its spookiest yet.
In the spirit of Halloween, the home rental platform is offering two brave souls the opportunity to spend the night in an underground graveyard in Paris.
Located 65 feet below the city, the Catacombs of Paris (Catacombes de Paris) is home to the remains of millions of the city’s dead, who were moved there in the 18th and 19th centuries when the cemeteries were closed due to public health risks.
To be held on the night of 31 October, the stay includes a private tour of the labyrinth of skulls and bones, followed by a dinner with violin accompaniment. In keeping with the theme, the guests will be told scary catacomb legends at bedtime. When dawn breaks the next morning, they will become the first people ever to wake up in the Catacombs.
The stay is made possible through a partnership which contributes to the financial upkeep of the Catacombs. Special care will be taken to ensure the safety of the winners and the remains.
If you’re up for this macabre stay, head over to Airbnb and explain why you deserve to win. Entries close 20 October at 11.59pm Central European Time.
