Woman Records Videos Of Herself For 8 Years, Shows Struggles With Mental Illness
By Melissa Goh, 20 Oct 2015
28-year-old Norwegian Ida Storm has been recording videos of herself since the age of 18, as a means to better understand what she is feeling as she struggles with mental illness.
She was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, a mental health condition that affects how she feels and thinks of herself, which causes problems in the way she functions in day-to-day activities.
Seen in the video, titled ‘Being Ida’, a short from her film titled ‘Ida’s Diary’, that compiles eight years of her life, Ida was seen struggling to control her anger and impulsiveness, and being caught in severe mode swings.
However, on days when she is finally feeling better, she enjoys the simple joy of accomplishing tasks, and like everyone else, she holds on to hopes and dreams that are waiting to be realized.
By sharing these intimate footage, Ida hopes to help others understand their loved ones better, and let those who are going through this know that it is okay to say that they are suffering from mental illness.
