‘Cronut’ Inventor, Dominique Ansel Introduces New Eight-Course Dessert Menu
By Yap Yen, 23 Oct 2015
“First heartbreak”: bergamot, cocoa nibs, marshmallow, bitter almond, chocolate pain de gênes.
Dominique Ansel, the inventor of the famous ‘Cronut’, has come up with an ambitious eight-course tasting menu.
The courses are all desserts, and the menu is served to just eight lucky diners at a time, a few times a week, in the test space above Dominique Ansel Kitchen, called ‘U.P.’.
According to Business Insider, the menu’s theme currently revolves around “firsts”. For example, for “first kiss”, Ansel served roasted peanut water and cream soda pearls. For “first heartbreak”, a version of baked Alaska with Valrhona Guanaja bitter almond ice cream was served with meringue.
The whole experience costs $85 per person, with an additional $45 for drink pairings. Reservations can be made through the kitchen’s website.
