For Small Homes: Carpets That Easily Transform Into Striking Chairs
By Yap Yen, 26 Oct 2015
For many who face the challenge of fitting your furniture into your small home, here is a clever solution.
Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Sam Linders has created a mosaic carpet that can easily transform into seats.
The carpets are called ‘The Wobble-Up’ and they show “flexibility and playfulness in a contemporary form for an adaptable living environment”. The idea for ‘The Wobble-Up’ came from Linders’ own preference to sit on her carpet rather than her sofa while she watched TV at home.
The way the carpets are made is like a form of large-scale embroidery, jersey fabric is woven through a grid of mechanically punched plastic. Velcro strips join the squares together to create a rug or to fold them into seats.
What do you think of this interesting solution? Head over here to find out more.
