Fascinating Illustrations Reveal How Artists Imagined The Year 2000 in 1900

Originally created in 1899 for the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris, a series of artworks completed by a collective of French artists, including Jean-Marc Côté, has been published online, revealing their fascinating impressions of what the year 2000 will be like.
Produced as paper card inserts in cigarette and cigar boxes as well as postcards, the illustrations, titled ‘En L'An 2000’, offer an intriguing insight into the visions of our future as imagined by the human race 100 years ago, which feature a bizarre assortment of sophisticated machinery.
