Artist Draws Whimsical Single-Line Portraits Without Looking At The Paper
By Aqila Xiao Qi, 09 Dec 2015
Brooklyn-based artist Ian Sklarsky practices the art of blind contouring in his ongoing series of drawings, using just a single line and his instinct to guide his portraits without once looking at his sketch until it is done. The works possess a naturally-derived charm for their imperfect elements.
Inspired by how blind contouring forces an artist to disregard distractions throughout the entire process, Sklarsky’s artworks capture the refreshing artistic experience and intriguing aspect of allowing your brain to freely translate what it sees in real life onto paper.
Check out some of Sklarsky’s blind contour portraits below and view more here.
