Scrabble Cleverly Reorders Negative Words To Create Cheerful Christmas Ad
By Yoon Sann Wong, 18 Dec 2015
While Scrabble’s use of anagrams in its ads are not new, the brand has modified this rearrangement of letters in a word to create antigrams–essentially anagrams that form words or phrases which hold opposing meanings to the original term–for its new Christmas ad.
For instance, ‘misfortune’, ‘fluster’ and ‘monster’ are transformed into ‘it’s more fun’, ‘restful’ and ‘mentors’ respectively as part of this ad’s narrative.
Through such reshufflings, the brand aims to showcase the “magic in words” and how it can alter a person’s perspective for the better.
