Fitbit Introduces A ‘Fitter’ Logo, Unveils Their New Fitness Smartwatch
By Louise Jane Cher, 07 Jan 2016
Health and fitness brand Fitbit has just given their logo a fresh update. It sports bolder typography, with the right-pointing arrow swapped out for a growing arrangement of dots.
According to logo and identity website Brand New, the new mark is a more robust deviation from the “slim but also less sturdy” old one.
Several have commented about how its strong, uniformly-thick typography make it appear “confidently trim and fit”, and the more balanced distribution of color makes it more adaptable to single-color schemes. However, some think it is a “step backwards”, resembling a “generic corporate icon from the ’80s or ’90s.”
The new logo was quietly unveiled together with the introduction of their new fitness smartwatch, Fitbit Blaze, which is set for release in March. The bigger watch-face will allow for on-screen personal trainer workouts, among other smartwatch and fitness tracker functions.
