New Pokémon Center In Japan Has Adorable Pikachu Mascot Dressed In Pretty Kimono
By Jillian Wong, 19 Jan 2016
Two years after the largest Pokémon Center in Japan opened in Tokyo, a new outlet is slated to open in the Takashimaya department store in Kyoto on 16 March.
The new shop will sell over 2,500 kinds of merchandise ranging from plush toys and clothes, to stationery and accessories. Many of the products will feature the new logo for the Kyoto outlet, which features a Pikachu riding on the back of a winged Ho-Oh.
There are currently nine outlets, with each outlet carrying its own range of original products. For the Kyoto branch, this special product comes in the form of an adorable Pikachu mascot named ‘Maiko Pikachu’.
Designed to embody the culture of the city, Pikachu is dressed as an apprentice geisha in a kimono with an Ho-Oh print, and outfitted with a Vivillion hair accessory and a cute Poké Ball parasol.
More information will be released nearer the opening date, and you can check out some images of the mascot and city logo, as well as the store’s interior below.
