Over the past few years, Instagram has become the go-to social network. Research reveals that 26% of adult internet users use Instagram, with 53% of adults aged 18 to 29 years old saying that they use the app every single day.
HubSpot Blogs has put together a list of lesser-known tips and features that can help elevate your Instagram game.
You can get notifications when your favorite people post.
If you never want to miss an Instagram post from your favorite people, you can choose to get a notification every time a specific user posts a new image. Simply visit an image on the user’s profile, click the three dots in the bottom right-hand corner of the post, and choose “Turn on post notifications” from the menu that appears. If you fail to receive these notifications, check that you have allowed notifications from the Instagram app in your phone settings.
Look through photos without worrying about accidentally liking them.
This useful hack lets you go through someone’s photos without “double-tap paranoia”. Simply scroll through their feed while on airplane mode. This trick only works if you go to the feed first, let the pictures load, then turn on airplane mode and start scrolling.
Hide ads that you do not find relevant.
Like its parent company Facebook, Instagram tries to show you ads that are interesting and relevant to you. This is based on people you follow, things you Like on Instagram, your information and interests on Facebook. If the sponsored posts you see are not relevant to you, you can let Instagram know by tapping the “Sponsored” label on the top right of any ad, and choosing “Hide This”. Doing so will teach its algorithm what your preferences are. You can also turn off internet-based ads or limit ad tracking under “Settings” on both iPhone and Android phones.
Reorder filters and hide those you do not use.
If you use Instagram often, chances are that you have your favorite filters and others that you never touch. To make editing photos easier, you can reorder filters in your editing window and hide those you never use. Do so by scrolling to the far right of your filters options and clicking “Manage”. Reorder your filters by holding your finger down on the three grey lines and dragging it to the order you fancy. You can also deselect any filters to hide them by tapping on the white check mark on the right of the chosen filter.
