Magnificent, Over-The-Top Baroque Wigs Meticulously Recreated With Paper
By Louise Jane Cher, 02 Feb 2016
St Petersburg-based artist Asya Kozina has recreated the elaborate wigs of the Baroque era with paper, and they look almost comparable to their original counterparts.
These historical wigs have long fascinated her for their aesthetic purpose, as they were often worn for the sake of beauty, regardless of how impractical or heavy they were.
By recreating them with paper, she aims to highlight their simple form of luscious curls, accented by floral bouquets and even a towering ship model.
Working with photographers Anastasia Andreeva and Dina Kharitonova, and makeup artists Marina Sysolyatina and Svetlana Dedushkina, her stunning wig creations are modeled to form beautiful, contemporary interpretations of Baroque fashion.
