For Coffee Lovers: Portraits Created Using Drops Of Coffee In Different Shades
By Yap Yen, 01 Mar 2016
An interesting experiment by assistant professor Ted Kinsman of Rochester Institute of Technology has resulted in a printer that can print portraits using drops of coffee.
The Coffee Drip Printer uses open-source electronic prototyping platform Arduino to control the movements of the printer and more specifically, the size of the drops of coffee.
The printer is capable of producing images with 80 x 100 pixels resolution, with 53 different shades of coffee, corresponding to the different sizes of each drop. Each portrait takes an hour to be printed, and a full day to dry.
Coffee fans, what do you think about having a portrait of yourself made with your favorite beverage? Watch the video below to find out more about how the printer works.
