Redesigned Cast Iron Pan Is Lighter Than A 13-Inch MacBook Pro
By Yap Yen, 16 Mar 2016
For those who love to cook with cast iron pans, the Field Skillet is the classic cast iron pan with a modern twist.
The team behind the Field Skillet, Field Company, took a year to meticulously research and design the pan to make it your go-to, everyday pan. Traditional cast iron pans are prized for its heat retention, which is proportional to its weight. Taking heft into consideration, the team designed the Field Skillet to be lighter than a 13’’ MacBook Pro, choosing a weight that users will be comfortable reaching for every day, without compromising performance.
The Field Skillet is also polished and smooth, reducing weight and increasing fineness of form. It is a universal fit for most stove tops (size #8), which will guarantee more even heat distribution, a key to reducing hot spots when cooking. The team made many design decisions—flat bottom for all cook tops, no pour spouts and a simple, ergonomic handle—to ensure the best cooking experience with the Field Skillet.
