“Blackout Tattoo” is a new tattoo trend that covers the body in total black ink.
Artist Chester Lee of Singapore-based Oracle Tattoo shop, who has been specializing in this method of inking for almost five years, told Cosmopolitan that his recent Instagram post of a blackout tattoo gained thousands of likes.
It featured a scallop hem collar tattoo that covered the chest and arms of his client. It took him a couple of months and about 20 over hours to complete.
He explained that clients used this method to cover up old ink, and the existing tattoos show through as negative lines after covering up with black ink.
