Healthy Salads Cleverly Reassembled To Look Like Beautifully Decorated Cakes
By Melissa Goh, 31 Mar 2016
If you thought that the above image is a mouth-watering slice of cake, take a good look again.
The ‘cake’ is made up of different layers of vegetables, decorated and styled to look like sweet desserts.
Created by Japanese food stylist Mitsuki Moriyasu, ‘The Vegiedeco Salad’ is a striking concept that takes vegetables out of the salad bowl and reassembled into delectable creations.
The cafe serves savory cakes that come with a sponge base made with natural ingredients like soybean flour, and decorated with icing made from tofu or cream cheese, colored with natural dyes from vegetables.
Customers can choose from a slice of vegetable cake at 735 yen (US$6.50), and set meals from 856 yen (US$7.60), which comes with a slice of cake and a cup of Vegie Drop Tea.
After its successful debut at Bistro La Porte Marseille restaurant in Nagoya, the new cafe is set to open in the city on 5 April 2016.
