For Oversleepers: This Alarm Clock Will Wake You Up With A Shock Every Morning
By Sophia Hyder, 21 Apr 2016
Hitting snooze on the alarm clock is probably one of the worst habits to have—when you finally get out of bed, you usually feel lethargic, unproductive, and grumpy.
The ‘Pavlok’ device utilizes sensory inputs to help you break bad habits. First it vibrates, then beeps, and finally sends zaps to shock you.
After a few days, your brain will start to recognize that a vibration would signal an impending zap, and will wake you up almost instantly. This method is inspired by Pavlov’s Dogs classic conditioning.
The team is now working on ‘The Shock Clock’, a mobile app that connects to your Pavlok device to allow you to set multiple alarms, a snooze lock, sleep tracking analysis, and accountability, which notifies your friends when you do not wake up, giving them the option of zapping you.
You can visit their Indiegogo campaign to fund the project.
