A Gesture Controlled ‘Lampless Lamp’ That Uses Your Phone To Shine
By Dorothy Tan, 27 Jun 2016
Based in Munich, Germany, product designer Naty Moskovich has created the ‘UpLamp’, the world’s first “lampless lamp”.
Instead of using its own light source, the UpLamp uses your smartphone’s camera flash, letting its sensor’s eco-system control the desired amount of light—it also doubles as a charging dock for your phone.
The most impressive feature of this bedside lamp is that it works with an app that lets you control it with hand gestures—clap twice to switch it on and off, and wave your hand to dim the light up or down.
The UpLamp app also “falls asleep” with you—after 30 minutes of not detecting any movement, it would switch off automatically.
In the morning, you can wake up to its alarm with light, which you can snooze with with a clap.
