An Award-Winning, Poignant Ad About Refugees That Is Made In Just 48 Hours
By Dorothy Tan, 08 Jul 2016
At Cannes this year, the French team, made up of young creatives Gautier Fage and Julien Bon, won the Young Lions competition in Film—considering the challenging conditions of this competition, this is quite a feat.
To take part in this competition, participants only have 48 hours to come up with an idea, shoot original footage and use it to produce a 60-second film.
The duo created a powerful and thought-provoking piece for the UN's Sustainable Development Goals initiative—their shaky, disorientating short film highlights the heart-breaking plight of refugees.
Tracing the treacherous journey that refugees have to make to arrive in a foreign country that is not at all welcoming, the ad’s poignant copy line sums it up perfectly—“If this is what they came for, imagine what they came from.”
Watch the award-winning ad below, and read an interview with Fage and Bon on Adweek.
