Avoid Using These Four Colors The Next Time You Paint Your Home
By Junru Tan, 23 Aug 2016

An inexpensive way to refresh the look of your home is with a fresh coat of paint. Many home-owners choose to be on the safe side when it comes to paint colors, using popular color combinations such as grays, shades of white and natural-looking greens.
After analyzing 50,000 photos of recently sold homes, interior expert Zillow Digs found out that rooms painted in certain colors managed to score a higher price.
Before deciding on a fresh code of paint for your home, here are the four worst colors to paint your home in.
“Off-White or Eggshell—make a room look dead and flat.”
Homes with shades of white are not a big hit with buyers and often sold for US$89 less than the estimated price. Unless the space has great natural lighting, sticking to a coat of wheat yellow paint in the kitchen will boost a home’s selling price by US$1,360.
Bedrooms with dark brown walls are sold for US$236 lesser than estimated, while bathrooms can have a lower selling price by US$469.
“Terracotta is one of the least-liked colors in the world.”
A muted orange shade can receive a negative reaction from people and reduce the home's selling price by $793.
“Slate Gray—a dud.”
A dining room with a coat of slate gray will cost you to lose an extra US$1,112.
