This ‘Nood’ App Censors Your Nudes With Illustrated Nipples And Vagina
By Chloe Pek, 13 Dec 2016
Can a woman post a nude without getting sexually objectified, shamed, or flagged for inappropriate content?
As it turns out, no—especially on Instagram.
Tired of being dictated about how she should show off her body on social media, model Melina DiMarco developed a cheeky solution: Nood, an app that allows you to censor these ladybits with illustrated ladybits.
DiMarco also included stickers for C-section scars, period blood and even an egg to symbolize ovulation—parts of being a woman that is often stigmatized.
The development of the app hasn’t been smooth-sailing however. Google Play and Apple's app store have rejected it, the latter citing it as “objectionable material”.
If you would like to see this project become a reality, you can join DiMarco’s petition here to help empower women on social media.
