French Grocery Pokes Fun At New ‘Amazon Go’ In Comical And Sassy Parody Spot
By Yoon Sann Wong, 22 Dec 2016
“If you change your mind about that cupcake, just put it back. But to be honest, we don’t see that many people putting back our cupcakes.”
French grocery store chain Monoprix takes a rib-tickling jab at the new ‘Amazon Go’ store in this parody ad.
Amazon recently announced its ‘Amazon Go’ brick-and-mortar in Seattle that boasts no lines and registers–customers simply “walk out” after purchasing items through its app.
Rather than promoting a tech-aided shopping experience, this commercial introduces viewers to Monoprix’s livraison à domicile, or home delivery service.
After selecting products in-store, Monoprix will put these purchases through the check out for customers and deliver it to their house within the hour–“no lines, no check out, no groceries to carry, no extra charges”.
It cheekily ends off by declaring that the service is available “at a Monoprix near you (Seattle’s a bit far away).”
