10 Hot Web Design Trends To Look Out For In 2017

While design should not always be dictated by the latest trends, knowing what is up and coming in your field can lead you to explore new elements that was previously off your radar.
Andrew Terehin, managing director and partner at design studio Agente, has recently penned an interesting article that lists 10 of what he thinks would be “the hottest web design trends for 2017”.
Stating that trends are influenced by many different factors that range from new design instruments and software to new design approaches, his list of the most popular trends includes design traits that would make your work stand out.
Some of these featured trends, such as custom illustration, icons and web typography, have been popular for some time—however, in 2017, they are expected to take on modified forms. For instance, hand-drawn illustrations can take on micro-animations or interaction to make them more engaging.
Other trends, like breaking the grid and symmetry of UI design, feels bold and refreshing.

“Microinteractions are a strong instrument that helps to form user’s habits or habit loops.”
Vivid Colors: “You can use bright colors for UI elements and bold text accents or even for huge backgrounds or background parts, combine 2 bright colors near each other or use their gradients.”
Breaking the grid: “Do not break it, only because it’s trendy, try to use golden design rule — get the maximum expression with minimum visual resources.”
Web typography: “You can use it for huge taglines and statements with a combination of different fonts and typefaces because you are free from using only system fonts like it was before, and it's still the text and SEO friendly element.”
