A New Contraceptive Gel For Men That Has A 100 Percent Success Rate
By Izza Sofia, 15 Feb 2017
So far, the responsibility for long-term contraception has rested mainly on women. However, scientists have now come up with a contraceptive that is developed for men instead.
This male contraceptive involves injecting a gel named Vasalgel into the tubes through which sperm would swim down to the penis—the gel would then act as a physical barrier.
This procedure is far less painful when compared to vasectomy, and it is also easily reversible.
The injection of Vasalgel has been experimented on monkeys, where it has achieved a 100 percent success rate. Monkeys that were under this trial continue mating but there were no resulting pregnancy.
This research is funded by The Parsemus Foundation, and it is still unclear when this option would be available to the public.
