An All-Capital Font That Is Based On The Shapes Of Real Buildings In NYC
By Dorothy Tan, 27 Mar 2017
Based in Milan, Italy, creative agency Invasione Creativa found that every city has its very own special typeface “hidden in plain sight”—with the help of Google Maps, it has managed to create a unique font that is linked directly to the territory of New York City.
This font is derived from the shapes of real buildings in the Big Apple, when viewed from above—the result is a quirky, blocky collection of letters that are all in capital.
The agency has plans to apply this technique of font-making to other cities, such as Paris and Tokyo—the New York City typeface is now available for free download here.
