Adept in typography, illustration and graphic design, Pakistani artist Omar Aqil has done the unbelievable as he transforms paintings by the great Pablo Picasso into unique art forms.
For his project titled ‘MIMIC’, Aqil visually mimics six randomly chosen art pieces done by Picasso, refurbishing them into modern-day 3D geometric art forms that retain key visual elements and colors to the originals. Aqil has not only directly translated Picasso’s art, but also expressed his personal interpretation of the work—making it his own.
Aqil is no stranger to Picasso’s paintings. He studied the 20th century influential artist during the early parts of his career; greatly acknowledging and appreciating the artist’s abstract and unique visual language. Aqil uses that as a form of inspiration in many of his projects.
Have a look through ‘MIMIC’ below. For more of Aqil’s works, click here. Follow him on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
