Instead of drafting a traditional contract that lists down their terms and conditions, Chicago-based design firm Segura decides to take an alternative route by getting rid of the confusing legal and professional jargon, and saying it like it is.
As part of its ‘I Am’ branding project, they have created a simple contract that will let clients know exactly what they can expect from a partnership with Segura.
Consisting of bold, sometimes humorous but always truthful statements, the contract can probably be summed up in the following sentences: “I’ll listen to you, you listen to me. I’ll try not to be an ass, you should do the same.”
In addition to the unconventional contract, the firm has also created a honest business card that states how it can be hard to work with, and the various things it will not do—for instance, it will not “make the logo bigger” or “do something that’s been done before”.
Read Segura’s contract above, and check out its business card below—would you dare to do something like this with your creative business?
